Cranberry & Banana Kid’s Marshmallow Treats Recipe

What kid doesn’t love a good oeey-gooey marshmallow treat? I was recently asked by The AsianParent online magazine in Singapore to come up with some yummy recipes using the GERBER® Graduates Puffs. Both my boys eat various different flavors and brands of those toddler puffs on a regular basis, but I never thought of using them for anything more than a healthy, finger food snack. I decided to take up the recipe challenge and I came up with were these Cranberry & Banana Marshmallow Treats. Similar to the traditional Rice Krispies Treats, but using the GERBER® banana flavored puffs.

Cranberry & Banana Kid's Marshmallow Treats

  • 3 cups Gerber® Graduates Puffs (banana flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ cup dried cranberries (unsweetened or sweetened with apple juice)
  • 2 ½ cups mini marshmallows, or 20 large marshmallows
  1. Melt butter over low heat in a saucepan.
  2. Slowly add the marshmallows to the melted butter and stir until the marshmallows are completely melted. Remove the mixture from the stove.
  3. Add In the Gerber® Graduates Puffs. Stir until well coated.
  4. Add in the dried cranberries
  5. Use a buttered spatula to evenly press the Gerber® Graduates Puffs marshmallow mixture into a small square dish.
  6. Let it cool and set for about 30 minutes
  7. Cut into squares or use your favorite cookie cutter shapes to serve.

Much like Rice Krispies Treats, these no-bake, Cranberry & Banana Marshmallow Treats were very easy to make. I actually had all the ingredients at home – which made it even easier. Just melt the butter and marshmallows, add the Gerber Puffs & Cranberries, mix and press into the pan! Cool, cut into squares or fun shapes and serve. It’s that simple.

Now the real question is, how do these taste??  These actually tasted really good. The heated marshmallows really brought out the banana flavor. If you don’t like “banana” flavored things, then you can try one of the other Gerber® flavors, or there are other organic brands of puffs (with a variety of flavors) that you can also use to make these treats. The best part about these treats is that the toddler puffs (any of the brands) are usually packed with extra nutrients for growing children (much more than your basic cereal).
